For those of you who asked for it, here’s your daily dose of Oliver goodness. He’s making himself right at home with us, and he’s becoming accustomed to his new bed (crate) just fine. After five minutes or so of telling us that he would rather not be in there, he settles in and makes himself quite comfortable. Although still a little clumsy with his big puppy feet (and quite comical to watch), he’s also learning to handle the three steps at the back door when he tells us it’s time to return inside where it’s warm. Speaking of going outside, Oliver already knows how to signal his intent by wandering over to the back door and sniffing all around. Clever boy! Here’s the latest mugshot from this morning… and yes… finally a photograph of him with his eyes open!
what a wonderful face to see first thing this morning! Dawww, so cute!
Can’t wait to see him first thing!
I didn’t think you could top Acadia as a fan favorite subject… I was wrong! How are you achieving that terrific narrow depth of field? Is it the lens or are you adding in post? Great either way.
Thanks Ed. There’s not a lot of light in the kitchen where I’ve been photographing him, so I’ve been using the 50mm f1.8 lens set at f2 and iso 200. I still have to hold the camera VERY steady, because I think the best I can get with this combo and the poor light is 1/15th of a second. I usually rest the camera right on the ground to steady it and avoid camera shake that would come with such a slow shutter speed, but that shallow depth of field is from the big aperture (f2.0).
Thanks David, it works!
Part necessity due to the low light and part choice, I really like how the large aperture allows you to help “focus” on the important part of the scene… in this case Oliver’s gorgeous little face.
Awwwwww…
Barbara… couldn’t have said it better myself 🙂
I cannot tell if that is his wise face or lets get into trouble face – ha!
I know… when I look at him in this photograph I can’t help but think that he’s about to get up to no good… making mischievous plans he is 🙂
Hi David, this pic put a big smile on my face…so job well done by you! I’m looking forward to watching Oliver’s progress over the next few months, he’s almost as cute as our cat, Lisa!
cheers Andrew
Thanks Andrew. Speaking of cats… Oliver seems to be doing just fine with ours. When he wants to play they’re not so keen, but other than that… peaceful.
One word: Awwwwwww!
Thanks Susie!
