I realize that just because I like a particular photograph, there is no guarantee that others will like it. I hope they do of course, but I have no control over what others like or don’t like. I also know that as photographers we develop emotional attachments to particular images – personal feelings about a scene that others may never share – so favorites can be very subjective indeed.
My new favorite photograph is posted below. As time passes though – and as those personal feelings fade – then perhaps the image below will no longer be my favorite photograph. Actually, I’m hoping that sooner rather than later I create my new “new” favorite photograph, but in the meantime, here’s my latest new favorite photograph. Still following?
I hope you like it 🙂
Then I know we’ll see this one again when you do your “favorites of the year” retrospective! 🙂
I get to pick 12 favorites from 2012, and so far, this one is definitely making the cut 🙂
One per month, that’s fair!
It’s always fun to look back on the year, though if it keeps raining like it is there won’t be anything for the month of June this time!
Argh, I KNOW – enough already! I’ve got family coming in the last two weeks of June, and I am SO hoping this pattern changes in time for their visit!
I hear you. We’ve got family coming the end of June and the first two weeks of July, and I’ve got a couple of friends from Ireland visiting around that time too. Last year it was perfect at the same stage, and maybe we’re getting all of the rain out ahead of time? Fingers crossed that’s the case anyway.
Lets hope for the best! At least your Irish friends should be used to the rain! 🙂
I’ve been promising them a respite from the typical Irish summer weather!
Making promises about Maine weather?! You ARE brave!
It’s my favorite too – for now.
Thanks. Glad you like it 🙂
I think you have it David, the rolling waves, the drama in the sky, the soaked rocks, the cliff…It’s a perfect photo, very beautiful !
Thanks Jocelyn… this one might get printed big!
What a breathtaking photo!!! Thanks for sharing Nonoy Manga
Thank you for the very kind words.
Perfect! You never cease to amaze me.
Thanks Bill. I kinda like this one 🙂
Superb photo. Marvellous how you’ve caught the wave just as it’s breaking.
Thanks Simon. Took me a couple of tries, but I was determined to get it.
I see why it’s your favorite. Love the wave action!
Thanks Robin. I wanted to include that wave for obvious reasons 🙂
Lovely. I too like the wave action and the moody feel. Kudos!
Thank you. Not only is this my new favorite photograph, but it is from my all-time favorite place!
Gorgeous photo. The wave is so wistfully perfect.
Amy… thank you. I appreciate you stopping by and leaving such kind words.
David, your blog is just beautiful! I’m visiting Maine for the first time right now, and your images are a perfect reflection of this gorgeous place. Thanks for the inspiration!
Thank you. Looks like you’re enjoying your visit to Maine despite the cool, wet weather. Hopefully you’ll get some sunshine soon 🙂
I think like is an understatement. It is so well done, the tones are so rich and the light dramatic.
Thank you. I appreciate the kind words 🙂
